National Junior Honor Society

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become an NJHS member?
Eligible students are invited to apply to NJHS based on the pillar of Scholarship. All students who maintain a cumulative grade of “B’s or better” and have completed grades 6, 7, or 8 are invited to apply. This DOES NOT guarantee admission to NJHS. All applications are reviewed by the Faculty Council. Students who meet the criteria for all other pillars of service are admitted to NJHS.

What are the requirements to maintain membership?
NJHS members must uphold the pillars of service at all times. In addition, NJHS students must complete at least five volunteer/service hours outside of chapter events.

How often are new members admitted?
Applications are sent out at the completion of the semester in order to calculate an accurate cumulative grade. In the event of a fall admittance, end of the year grades from the previous school year will be used.

Who do I talk to if I have questions about the application process and/or the organization?
Mrs. Wetherbee is the NJHS advisor. Advisors are non-voting members of the Faculty Council, so they are available to help with applications and/or just to answer general questions.
