Northport Public School has been implementing a Farm to School program for the last six years with wonderful success. This program is intended to provide children with fresh, locally grown or raised food, and to educate them about the many aspects of agriculture and the community they live in.

While following the USDA guidelines, we strive to incorporate local produce whenever possible using dark green and red/orange vegetables, seasonally grown fruits and whole grain rich foods.

Currently we purchase our produce by dealing with farmers directly, one on one, or through a local co-op.

Our goal is to provide our kids with the healthiest lunch possible encouraging them to try fresh fruits and vegetables from our rich agricultural area. Please browse the accompanying resources and information.
